Experiment in Creating 6 Degrees of Freedom for Smartphone-based Virtual Reality Applications

This experiment used Apple's ARKit in conjunction with the AFrame Javascript webVR framework. Using ARKit's plane detection as an anchor for the VR experience allows users to experience six degrees of freedom using mobile devices without external trackers.

Lab activities focus on understanding how to build interactive computing environments that directly augment a user's senses with computer-generated material. Researchers are interested in augmenting the user's perception, and place particular emphasis on the interaction between the users and their environment.
