The field of robotics promises social and economic changes on the same scale brought about by the industrial revolution and world wide web. The GVU Center at Georgia Tech is a part of the institute's larger effort to Create the Next innovations in robotics and advance its applications in society. Georgia Tech has 60 authors in the 2017 technical program at the IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA). Nine of these are faculty affiliated with GVU, and robotics constitutes one of the center's core 22 research areas.
