James Hays' research interests span computer graphics, computer vision, and computational photography. His research focuses on using "Internet-scale" data and crowd-sourcing to improve scene understanding and allow smarter image synthesis and manipulation. He is the recipient of the Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship and the NSF CAREER award.
Before joining Georgia Tech, Hays was the Manning Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Brown University. He was a postdoc at MIT with Antonio Torralba, completed his Ph.D. at Carnegie Mellon University with Alexei Efros, and received his B.S. from Georgia Tech.
